Evening of Šantić at the House of Ivo Andrić
📅 27. Mai · 19:00
Šantić stayed on the coast in April 1904. A photograph from the wedding of Stevo Nenadović and Jovanka Katić in front of the Church of the Holy Transfiguration in Igalo, which the famous poet attended as a guest of the Nenadović family, testifies to that time. It was precisely those days that inspired Šantić to write the poem “Boka” two years later – the anthem of the Bay of Kotor.
The poem was published in 1906 by the editor of “Srpskog književnog glasnika,” Jovan Skerlić.
Program of the evening:
- Talk on the 120th anniversary of the poem “Boka” – the director of the City Library and Reading Room Jasna Maslan and literature professor Tamara Komar from the “Ilija Kišić” Primary School in Zelenika
- Music program – pupils of the “Ilija Kišić” Primary School and pupils of the Herceg Novi Music School (director Nives Nenadović)
- Flowers laid at the bust of Alekse Šantić on Belavista – a delegation of representatives of the Library, Music School, and Municipality
The event was supported by the Municipality of Herceg Novi as the official patron.
