Musical-Choreographic Performance: Prometheus Bound
A project by Ivan Velikanov, Marie Terras, and Andrej Silvestrov. “Prometheus Bound” is an interdisciplinary project inspired by Aeschylus’ tragedy, combining live music, physical theatre, improvisation, and multimedia art into a unique stage form.
The performance explores the themes of freedom, sacrifice, inner resistance, and human dignity through the contemporary language of music, movement, and visual art. Ivan Velikanov’s musical score for instrumental ensemble functions as a living organism in which composition intertwines with improvisation. Marie Terras’ choreography explores the body as a space of memory and emotional experience, while Andrej Silvestrov’s direction connects music, movement, and video into a multilayered visual-stage experience.
The project was created in Montenegro in collaboration with Montenegrin musicians and the local art scene, inspired by the landscape, cultural heritage, and atmosphere of Montenegro.
Creative Team and Participants
Ivan Velikanov – conductor, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. He graduated in composition and conducting from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Since 2023, he has lived and worked in Herceg Novi. Founder of the Alta Capella ensemble and the La Renaissance festival, and artistic director of the Camerata Herceg Novi orchestra.
Andrej Silvestrov – film and theatre director from Moscow. Author of multimedia projects combining music, theatre, and visual arts. He lives and works in Montenegro.
Marie Terras – choreographer, performance artist, and director from Saint Petersburg. Since 2022, she has lived in Montenegro, where she creates original theatre and site-specific projects.
Camerata Herceg Novi – a chamber orchestra founded in August 2025. Its repertoire includes works from early music through Baroque, Classicism, and Romanticism to the music of the 20th and 21st centuries.
