Part of the “Cultural Code” series. The lecture is devoted to commedia dell’arte — the street theater of 16th-century Italy, where traveling performers played simple plots with tricks, improvisation, and recognizable masks. The lecture will examine how this theatrical genre became one of the most influential in European culture and left its mark on classical drama, film, fashion, and comics.
The lecture is delivered by literary scholar Елена Труфанова.
