About the orchestra
Camerata Herceg Novi (Herceg Novi Chamber Orchestra) was founded in August 2025. It gave its first public performance at a concert held as part of City Day celebrations on October 28, 2025, in Herceg Novi.
The orchestra was founded out of the need to enrich the artistic life of Herceg Novi, the Bay of Kotor, Montenegro, and the wider region. Its main idea is to create a foundation for gathering professional musicians dedicated to a high level of performance and collaboration.
Its repertoire includes works from early music, through the Baroque, Classicism and Romanticism, to the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. The orchestra presents itself in various formations — from duets and chamber ensembles to a full symphony orchestra.
The orchestra's artistic director is Ivan Velikanov, a Russian-French conductor and composer. His leadership ensures the maintenance of high artistic standards, innovative programs, and a fresh approach to interpretation.
