“The Professional” is a drama about a man from the opposition who seeks justice and civil liberties, and the police officer assigned to monitor his subversive life and work. Their encounter develops into conflict, reconciliation, and the realization that politics has ruined their lives.

The play was first performed nearly forty years ago and has been staged in cities throughout the former Yugoslavia, as well as in more than one hundred theaters abroad in around thirty languages. Among other places, it has been performed in New York, San Francisco, Moscow, London, Athens, Jerusalem, Tehran, Berlin, and Istanbul.

The new production at Zvezdara Teatar is a remake of the 1990 production. The play’s subtitle is “A Sad Comedy According to Luka.”
