The program features the sacred songs of the troubadours and instrumental forms that Johannes de Grocheio, at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, recommended listening to in order to distract the mind from wicked thoughts.
The program will include works by Аймерика де Пегильяна on the “gift of discernment” and the futility of war; the earliest monastic alba, calling for vigilance because we do not know when the time will come (Mark 13); and other anti-war and introspective works by 13th-century troubadours, goliards, and trouvères.
The vocal lines are combined with the sound of historical instruments, especially the 12th-century Latin guitar. The program is performed in the acoustics of the Catholic Church of St. Jerome.
