Guardian of the Icon of Saint George

Film The Guardian of the Icon of Saint George is set in the present day, in southern Serbia. It follows Stanoje, a sturdy peasant (Rados Bajić), who refuses to abandon his great-grandfather’s land on the slopes of Mount Radan. While caring for his sick father, Stanoje is harassed by an Albanian gang that intimidates him and tries to force him to sell his property.

After one tragic night, Stanoje suddenly becomes an outlaw, pursued by a system that failed to protect him. Hunted by both criminals and the police, he is forced to face an impossible choice: surrender or survive.

Only Sonja, a young police inspector (Miona Marković), begins to understand that Stanoje is the true victim of abuse, violence, and corruption.
